Winners of the 2024 Guldbagge Awards

Passage and The Swedish Torpedo were each awarded four Guldbagge Awards at tonight’s gala, held at Cirkus in Stockholm. Three awards went to The HypnosisThe Last Journey received the Guldbagge Audience Award, and Lasse Hallström was honored with The Award of Honor. Johanna Bergenstråhle received this year’s Gullspira, and Loran Batti was awarded the new award Guldpiga for G – 21 Scenes from Gottsunda. Read more

The Guldbagge Award History

The Guldbagge Awards are Sweden’s leading film awards and have been presented since 1964 for outstanding contributions to Swedish film over the past year. In total around 500 Guldbagge Awards have been handed out over the years, and 18 Guldbagge Awards are now presented annually in the various categories.

The 2016 Guldbagge Award nominations

The Guldbagge Award nominations were announced Monday January 4, at a press conference in Stockholm.

With six nominations each, A Man Called Ove (En man som heter Ove) by Hannes Holm, the adaption of the novel by Fredrik Backman, and Drifters (Tjuvheder) by feature debutant Peter Grönlund take the lead. They are closely followed by White People (Det vita folket) by Lisa Aschan and Berlin Crystal Bear winner My Skinny Sister (Min lilla syster) by Sanna Lenken – both with 5 nominations.

The nominees for the 2026 Guldbagge Awards

The Guldbagge nominations for the 2025 film year were announced December 11 at a press conference at Filmhuset in Stockholm. Sweden’s Oscar submission, Eagles of the Republic by Tarik Saleh, leads the way with a total of 11 nominations. Andreas Öhman’s 7 Steps and Jon Blåhed’s Raptures follows with eight nominations each, while Kevlar Soul by Maria Eriksson-Hecht received seven. Read more

The Guldbagge Awards turns 50

In a country characterized by Lutheran zeal and social utopia, the nowadays-mandatory film gala appeared comparatively late. Not until 1964, Swedish filmmakers were first awarded for outstanding contributions. It took an inventive aristocrat, Vienna-born Jew Harry Schein, to make the Guldbagge Awards come true, soon after he created the National Film Agreement and the Swedish Film Institute. Read more
